インコが好きです。
子どものころ、長い間セキセイインコを飼っていました。
思い出すのは、友達の家のインコが、ある日カゴから逃げて帰ってこなかったこと。
インコは本来、群れをなして生きる鳥で
ひとりではさびしくて、耐えられないのだそうです。
逃げたインコも、家族や仲間をつくり、生きたのでしょうか。
小さなインコ、いわゆるリアルな大きさでつくっても納得ができず
いろいろな大きさをくりかえすうち、こんなに大きくなりました。
気がつくと、自分の等身大のインコが出来上がっていました。
つまるところ、命の実感がともなうのは
自分自身の大きさなのかなあと　感じています。

I love budgies. When I was a little girl I used to keep them at home. 
I remember when a friend's budgie escaped from its cage and went
missing. I had heard that they normally lived as groups in nature and that it was hard for them to handle loneliness. So I liked to imagine the missing bird finding friends or making a family. 
I wasn't convinced with life size buggies so one day, to express their energy, I made them as large as myself.
