About a year before my exhibition, I happened
to observe some dandelions and discovered
that when they finish flowering, they
lay
down close to the ground as if they
are dying.
In fact, they are not dying but laying
down
so as not to disturb the new shoots
of bulbs
coming out of the centre of the plants.
By
laying down, they are actually starting
to
prepare their seeds. When the seeds
are ready,
the dandelions stand up, stretching
their
necks even longer than when they were
flowers.
This is to spread their seeds as far
as possible.
This moved and inspired me to create
this
work. Every time I visited the exhibition,
I added more flowers according to the
season
and the flowers it produced. For example,
the pink budgies have wings made of
cherry
blossoms.
